Just Follow Your Art

THE ARTIST

I’ve been practicing my lettering before it was cool.

In grade school I was more interested in doodling on the side of my notes than studying for the test. I’ve always been obsessed with school supply shopping, and I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I had a subscription to a scrapbooking magazine in high school. In college my roommates graciously allowed me to hang my hand painted quote canvases around the sorority house. They knew that I was onto something. The true catalyst for my shop was when I spent six days with college students at a program called LeaderShape. Together we spent time reflecting on the question “if money or time were unlimited, what would you do with your life?” My answer was: create art and help others*. As it turns out, 18-22 year olds are persistent and they pushed me to open my online shop in 2011. Custom order paintings kept me fairly busy, but the party really started in 2016 when I began expanding to drinkware, art prints, and gifts.

Confession: I’ve been practicing my lettering before it was cool.
In school I was the student more interested in doodling on the side of my notes than studying for the test. I’ve always been obsessed with office supply shopping, and I am a bit embarrassed to admit that I had a subscription to a scrapbooking magazine in high school.

My name is Jesi, and I am the designer and one woman show behind Just Follow Your Art. Welcome to my handcrafted corner of the internet: where pretty lettering and witty words meet, and cocktails are always encouraged! Every product at JFYA has been designed and lettered by me, either on paper or with my trusty ipad + apple pencil.

Keeping it real is my jam.
Most of the time, you can find me with my hair in a messy bun, glasses on, daydreaming about  the next party we’ll host on our front porch. I have a weekly tradition of drinking champagne in sweatpants. Potatoes are my love language. I’m a feminist, and a self-proclaimed font snob. My husband is my best friend and top chef - he is a fantastic cook! In addition to running this business of mine, I have a Master’s Degree in Education and work with some of the brightest college student leaders in the country.
